A site worth checking out
A site worth checking out
Here is a site that I found really really interesting... I found it in the search for greener, heathier alternatives to things we use daily.
http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com
WARNING- Going to this site and looking up your products may cause you to throw things away. I threw away 85% of my makeup in my make up bag because of this site. But I kept remembering one thing. It is for my health!! The inredients in these things are harmful to my health and I can find healthier alternatives!!
It is worthchecking out. I promise you that. So do you dare?
Cleaning with baking soda and vinegar
Cleaning with baking soda and vinegar
Now even I am guilty for still doing this..At the first sign of a mess..we run for the chemically filled cleaning products we so cherish. But aren't there other ways to clean up things without the use of such harsh and toxic chemicals. Oh yes there is :)
1) slow and yucky coffee pot?- I act like I'm making a full pot of coffee. I clean out the old coffee grinds...Fill the back part up with half water, half vinegar. I run it through once. After it is done "brewing" I wipe the top of the coffe pot(where the water comes out into the grinds) and then fill the back up with just water and run that through. It cleans all the coffee buildup in the hoses. I run one more pot of water to make sure I get all the vinegar out (trust me it tastes HORRIBLE if you only run it once and then make a pot of coffee....*gag*)
2) Buildup in your dishwashing machine? Take six cups of vinegar and pour all around the dishwasher. The place 1 cup of vinegar (still in the measuring cup) facing up on the bottom rack. The vinegar helps break up any soap or hard water buildup and cleans the filter for you.
3) Slow Drain? Pour 2 tablespoons of baking soda down the drain. Followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar. leave for a few hours(it will foam) Use hot water (if you have plastic pipes) and pour down the drain. The foaming action should break up any buildup and the water...well it washes it all out (lol)
4) Stains on your carpet or clothes? I actually just recently found this one out....SODA WATER...I am not sure how well this works on old stains..but it works great for not so old ones...
5) greasy microwave? Mix 1/4 a cup of vinegar into a microwavable bowl with water. Microwave for a few minutes. it helps break down the grease and clears any smells from things prior microwaved..(new words haha)
There are a lot more ways to use baking soda and vinegar (those seem to be be the best). I just thought I would share a few.
